REM Sleep FAQs

What time do I need to be there and what time will I be out in the morning?
Appointment time is 8:30 pm (not before 8:15 pm) and be prepared to leave by 6:00 am.

Why do I need to arrive at 8:30 pm, if I don’t normally go to bed before 11:00 pm?
Paperwork and medical preparations are required prior to going to sleep.

Are there any painful procedures associated with the sleep study?
There are no painful procedures associated with a sleep study. Equally important, we treat all of our patients with compassion and personal attention.

What do I need to bring with me?
Bring an overnight bag with toiletries and comfortable sleepwear.

What if I’m on medication?
Patients should bring any medications they are currently taking, unless otherwise advised.

Should I eat dinner before I arrive for my sleep test?
Yes, please make sure you have dinner before arriving.

Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Patients should avoid caffeine and alcohol after 3:00 pm.

Will I be able to use a bathroom in the middle of the night?
Yes, each bedroom is equipped with a private bathroom.

Will I get my results in the morning?
Technicians do not provide any sleep test result information to patients as it is beyond their legal scope of practice. Results are sent to the referring physician within two weeks of having completed the sleep study.

Is there parking available?
There are many parking garages nearby and parking is free on the street after 7:00 pm.

What is the nearest train line?
The R, N, W, & F and the 4, 5, and 6 are all within three blocks of the sleep center.
