David O. Volpi, M.D., P.C., F.A.C.S., Director
REM Sleep is under the direction of founder and director, David O. Volpi, M.D., P.C., F.A.C.S. He is a board-certified otolaryngology surgeon and staff member at New York’s finest teaching hospitals. He has operated a private Ear, Nose and Throat practice for more than twenty years, Otolaryngology Associates, now with two locations in on the Upper East and Upper West sides of New York City. He is also the founder of Manhattan Snoring and Sleep Center, New York’s premier center for the diagnosis and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. Eric J. Cohen, M.D. is committed to translating advances in technology in the diagnosis and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea for the patients that come under his care. He strives to successfully solve their individual snoring and sleep problems efficiently with minimal disruption to their lives while emphasizing minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Cohen has been recognized nationally for excellence in performing the Pillar Procedure.
Dr. Cohen is a board certified otolaryngologist who graduated from the Johns Hopkins Medical School with Alpha Omega Alpha honors in 1991. His residency training in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery was performed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1996 Dr. Cohen was managing partner of the Head and Neck Surgical Group. He also served as the Co-Director of Sleep Disorders Center of the New York Head and Neck Institute, and the Medical Director of Cure Snoring. He recently joined Otolaryngology Associates and the Manhattan Snoring and Sleep Center in its East Side New York location. He also holds an academic appointment at Columbia University.
Dr. Le is interested in general otolaryngology, especially sinus surgery, sleep medicine and head and neck endocrine surgery which includes thyroid and parathyroid conditions. Other medical interests include medical missions to provide ENT care and education to underprivileged areas.
She has written scientific papers on a variety of topics. She is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery.
Madhav Gudi, M.D., Sleep Center Clinical Director
As clinical director of REM Sleep, Dr. Gudi’s expert analysis of the results of a patients’ sleep test ensures that you and your doctor will have the most accurate analysis to guide you on your treatment path. In addition to being board-certified in Sleep Medicine, he also holds certificates of the boards of Internal, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Geriatric Medicine. He is a Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Angiology, and American College of Physicians, and he is a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Gudi graduated from Bangalor Medical College and conducted his residency at NY Methodist Hospital. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Downstate Health Science Center as well as Cornell Medical College.
Tamasine Oram, Clinical Coordinator
Tami is NY State registered LPN and RPSGT/Technical Director of the center. She graduated with a dual associate’s degree in Biology/Criminal Justice 1988 Jamestown Community College, and latergraduated from St. Frances Hospital’s School of Practical Nursing with the Excellence in Bedside Nursing Award. For 11 years she worked as a Cardiac and Surgical Intensive Care Nurse at Erie County Medical Center and Buffalo General Hospital. In 2002 she interned at The Dent Neurologic Institute’s Sleep Disorder Center in Orchard Park, NY under Dr. Marc Frost: Neurologist & Sleep Specialist. She passed the BRPT boards in 2003 and have held her designation as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) since then. She continued to work her way up to the position of Lead Technologist at that organization.
In 2004 she accepted the position of Clinical Care Coordinator at Columbia University’s School of Physician and Surgeons in NYC at The Cardio Pulmonary and Ventillatory Disorders Sleep Lab under Dr. Robert Basner, Pulmonologist/Sleep Specialist. In 2007 she began working at Lexington ENT and Specialized Services on the Upper East Side as Sleep Lab Clinical Coordinator. In 2008 she became RPSGT/Technical Director of Lexington Medical Services Sleep Disorders Center/REM Sleep and moved to its current home on 62nd Street.
