When you enter REM Sleep for your sleep study, although you may feel that you’re checking into a fine hotel, we take your sleep disorder seriously. After all, difficulty sleeping a serious issue. Sleep disorders disrupt a person's overall quality of life and can affect anyone, regardless of age or sex. In fact, more than 70 million people in the US have a sleep disorder, and many are unaware of it. Daytime fatigue caused by sleep deprivation can lead to lifestyle consequences including poor work performance and a strain in your relationships.
The healthcare community has become increasingly aware of the many medical complications that are caused by poor sleep or a lack of sleep. Many of the health issues that were once thought to be linked to other causes, such as diet or stress for example, can be directly linked to common sleep issues. Sleep deprivation can lead to serious health issues such as heart beat irregularities, heart failure and heart disease, lung dysfunction, high blood pressure, stroke, gastrointestinal reflux, and damage to the immune system. These health issues are especially common if your sleep issue is caused by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
While you are enjoying the comforts of a good night's sleep, our physicians and technicians will be busy performing a thorough and professional sleep study to diagnose your issue. At REM Sleep, you'll be analyzed for your overall health and wellness using our sleep studies as a baseline for treatment. Once admitted by your physician's referral, your studies will be conducted and within two weeks the Clinical Sleep Director will interpret the study and send to your referring physician.
